Apple is preparing to launch iOS 18.1 in the coming weeks, with iOS 18.2 slated for release in December, bringing a new suite of Apple Intelligence features to eligible iPhones. The US-based tech giant is currently testing early versions of these AI capabilities in both developer and public beta releases of iOS 18.1. The more advanced functionalities are expected to arrive with iOS 18.2, which will enter beta testing shortly after the iOS 18.1 public rollout. Here’s a look at the AI features anticipated in iOS 18.2:

Image Playground

One of the standout features in iOS 18.2 is the Image Playground app. This tool will enable users to generate creative images in seconds using text inputs, offering three distinct styles to choose from: Animation, Illustration, and Sketch.

Genmoji

Apple’s new Genmoji feature will allow users to create personalized emojis by simply describing them in text. This is a fun way for users to generate custom emojis tailored to their preferences.

ChatGPT Integration

Siri will soon get smarter with integrated support for ChatGPT, allowing users to interact directly with the AI chatbot while using Siri. Additionally, ChatGPT will enhance the Writing Tools app, providing users with contextual suggestions and text generation capabilities based on the content they are creating.

Priority Notifications

Apple is set to introduce Priority Notifications in iOS 18.2. These will ensure that important notifications appear at the top of the list, helping users prioritize what matters most.

Camera Enhancements

The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro will see notable camera upgrades in iOS 18.2. This includes a two-stage shutter mode, enabling users to lock focus and exposure on a subject before capturing the photo with a gentle tap. Additionally, the Visual Intelligence feature will allow users to activate a new mode by pressing and holding the Camera Control button, enhancing the photo-taking experience.

Mail App Redesign

iOS 18.2 will bring a refreshed Mail app with a new “digest view,” categorizing incoming emails into Primary, Transactions, Updates, and Promotions for easier organization. Although this isn’t an Apple Intelligence feature, it will be available on all devices running iOS 18.

Global Expansion and Additional Features

Apple Intelligence will expand to Australia, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, and the United Kingdom in December. Furthermore, iOS 18.2 could introduce new functionalities like robot vacuum support in the Home app and additional health features for AirPods Pro 2, such as Hearing Aid and Hearing Test modes.

With iOS 18.2, Apple is set to bring even more powerful AI and usability enhancements, continuing to refine the iPhone experience for its global user base.
